OGMs (Organismos Genéticamente Modificados)
Los cultivos genéticamente modificados cubren más del 10% de las tierras agrícolas mundiales. Se cultivan más de cien plantas genéticamente modificadas en más de 160 millones de hectáreas en más de 29 países. Los principales países productores son EE. UU., Brasil, Argentina, Canadá e India. La soya es la planta genéticamente modificada más cultivada, seguida del maíz, el algodón y la canola. Según el Reglamento de la UE 1829/2003 y 1830/2003, el contenido de OGM de más del 0,9% en alimentos e ingredientes debe estar etiquetado. Otros países y regiones tienen reglas similares con límites similares.
